DESCRIPTION OF THE ORGANIZATION

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) opened its office in the Republic of Korea in 2012, based in Seoul. The MSF Korea office focuses on four key pillars: (1) recruitment of skilled Korean medical and non-medical staff to dispatch to MSF field projects, (2) communications to the Korean public on global humanitarian crises and urgent health emergencies, (3) outreach to Korean stakeholders and policymakers in support of international community engagement and action, (4) and fundraising from Korean donors to directly support MSF medical humanitarian activities.

 

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The primary purpose of the Donor Development Team is to ensure that the investment made in acquiring a new donor is maximized. Strong loyalty campaigns ensure that the donors are properly thanked, educated on how their donation is being used and inspire them to repeat and or increase their donation over the years. The Donor Development Manager oversees all loyalty activities as well as researches and develops new tools. The manager also develops and monitors budgets closely for all activities of the Donor Development Team.

  1.  Ensures donor service is of the highest standards to educate, cultivate and inspire donors to increase their donation to MSFK in compliance with budget allocations.
  2.  Researches and develops tactics under the supervision of the Fundraising Director to meet targets identified in the MSFK overall Fundraising Plan of Action
  3.  Ensures that all KPIs for loyalty are met
  4.  In collaboration with the Donor Care officer, develops yearly loyalty campaigns in line with budget and plan of activities
  5.  Using standard analytical measures for renewal, reactivation and upgrading support, monitors progress of all campaigns to active donors and report the results to the Fundraising Director on a timely basis and provides solutions as needed
  6.  Is accountable to the Fundraising Director for loyalty budgets in all loyalty activities
  7.  Supports, supervises and appraises all aspects of performance of staff under his/her supervision

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Planning 

  • Under the supervision of the Fundraising Director, creates plans for annual loyalty activities to ensure high quality of donor service
  • Forecasts income from existing donors based on FR expenditure and analysis
  • In collaboration with the Digital Fundraising Officer and the Acquisition Fundraiser ensures precise campaign plans for each including rationale, strategy, objectives target market, communication strategies, budget and schedule
  • Plans corrective actions if there are unexpected changes in results
  • Develops existing channels for donor communication
  • Researches new opportunities for donor cultivation including risk analyses

 

2. Supervising implementation of plans

  • Ensures high quality interactions between the call center and donors
  • Supervises the development of all loyalty campaigns
  • Supervises the development all materials being sent to donors and development of new marketing materials
  • Manages external agencies’ contracts including the bidding process, selection and performance
  • Supervises the timely and accurate provision of information from the database needed for loyalty programs
  • Supervise programs to ensure expenditures are in compliance with the allocated budget

 

3. Monitoring & Reporting

  • Provides a comprehensive monthly reports to the Fundraising Director including an in depth analyses of campaigns and corrective actions as necessary.
  • Monitors the performance of all loyalty campaigns for compliance with all KPIs and provides updates to the Fundraising Director in a timely manner.
  • Monitors donor responses and needs by gender, age, location within the country in order to maximize donor outreach and ensure a balanced donor base
  • Monitors shortfalls in performance and makes recommendations on how to improve effectiveness to the Fundraising Director
  • Monitors budgets and updates the status to Fundraising Director in a timely manner.
  • Monitors loyalty activities of competitors within the country as well as within the MSF network
  • Ensures that all work undertaken meets legislative and regulatory compliance

 

4. People Management

  • Sets individual performance objectives, does performance appraisals, and ensures that staff is accountable to MSFK internal policy
  • Interviews, hires, trains and coaches new employees under his/her supervision
  • Monitors if his/her performance is stable and find possible solutions when there is a problem
  • Ensures personal and professional development by proposing training when necessary
  • Provides mentorship to Loyalty team
  • Ensures that each member of the Loyalty team is tracking and monitoring results of individual caseload
  • Supervises and monitors the full completion of duties and determines priorities

 

5. Other

  • Supports the development of fundraising practices of the MSF K Fundraising Department as needed
  • Represents MSF Korea at MSF international loyalty working group

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in NGOs and/or corporation.
  • Strong commitment to MSF’s humanitarian aid work
  • Advanced level in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Facility with numbers and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to manage external agencies.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Proven ability to work under tight deadlines and to manage multiple jobs.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Good understanding of the Korean market.
  • Creative thinking and solution focused problem solving ability.
  • Fluent in Korean and English

 

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of MSF and its work.
  • Experience in existing donor marketing, donor service or CRM
  • Experience in strategic development planning and fundraising databases.
  • Experience in managing people
